Studies show that 92% of people will trust personal recommendations over ads. With that, influencer marketing, or using popular social media individuals in marketing a business suddenly became a trend. Influencers, from the term itself, are people who have great influence in their field; this is why their opinions are as good as personal recommendations.
The main reasons you should invest in getting influencers to promote your hotel
1. Online marketing and advertising is the most effective way to attract younger guests.
The 2014 Google study, The 2014 Traveler’s Road to Decision, revealed that the internet is the best platform to influence younger generations to book your hotel. The millennial and Gen Z age brackets actually represent more than 30% of international travelers worldwide, and this number is expected to rise every year.
2. Most guests trust “approachable” endorsers.
The traditional way of marketing (radio, newspaper ads, television ads) is not as well-received as before. This is because big celebrities are usually endorsing the products seen on television, and they are known to not even use the product they advertise. However, influencers are deemed as someone that’s relatable, since they appear more authentic. Influencers share their daily life on social media without following any script, while celebrities do the opposite. With that, more people trust influencers and their opinions.
Payments for influencers can be in cash (costing up to P40,000 per post), or even a simple complimentary overnight stay. With that, you would be putting a big investment on influencer marketing. To make sure that your investment is worth it, our Digital Marketing Manager shares two basic tips on how you can choose the best influencer for your brand. Read them below!
2 tips on choosing the right influencer for your hotel
1. Find influencers who share similar values.
Don’t just choose an influencer because of the number of followers. Choose an influencer that matches with your hotel’s brand. For example, if your accommodation is a hostel tailored for solo male travelers, you have to work with a famous male backpacker. This way, you capture the right market and have an increased number of bookings.
2. Don’t be fooled by the number of followers.
Just because a person has a million followers, does not mean he/she is the best influencer for your hotel. Micro-influencers, or influencers with around 1,000-10,000 followers are sometimes effective in giving your hotel actual bookings. The network of the influencer is more important than the number of followers.
