Patar Beach history

According to the Pangasinan local government’s website, there’s no exact record on the date Bolinao (where Patar is located) was created. Records show that it was the year 1575 when Spanish Captain Pedro Lombi founded the first settlement in the province with more or less 100 settlers. By virtue of its Resolution No. 104 dated September 19, 1988, the Municipal Council of Bolinao adopted July 25, 1575 as the Foundation Day of Bolinao in honor of the Patron Saint of the town, St. James the Great.

There are no records that show the Patar Beach description or history, though but the barangay where it is located has. Before becoming a barangay, Patar was formerly part of the Ilog Malino municipality. But since it became a tourism area, it was granted separate municipality status making it one of the 30 Barangays of Bolinao.
