Cheap hotels in Singapore

Singapore is a combination of modern high rises and an eclectic mix of Southeast Asian food. Many flock to the city looking to experience the wealth of different cultures in such a small area. Between the modern buildings, Singapore has a huge amount on offer. From old to new, traditional to modern, there’s something for everyone.

Main attractions in Singapore

You may arrive thinking that Singapore is a bustling modern city with only shopping centres and modern attractions. Whilst Singapore does offer these things (Have a look at the incredibly long Orchard road packed with miles and miles of shopping malls), there is also a lot more on offer. Check out Little India to the north to see a distinctly Indian community. There are several of these types of communities here, with Chinatown Singapore reflecting Chinese culture, heritage and traditions. If you’re looking for some beautiful sights, take a trip to Sentosa Island, an old military fort which has been converted into a resort. The area contains beaches, its own theme park and areas for gambling - if you want to give that a go. When you’re looking to grab something to eat, you can head over to the east coast, but if you’re looking for a riverside view, Marina bay or Clarke Quay can’t be beaten.

Neighbourhoods in Singapore

Geylang is the original home of the Malay people and a great place to soak up some local culture and history. If you’re looking for something a little more typical, Jurong offers visitors the chance to see the Singapore Science Centre, the Singapore Discovery Centre or the Singapore Bird Park. Visit Jurong East to see a vibrant area of the city offering a great discount mall. Jurong West contains several smaller areas which offer up the Jurong Green and Jurong Spring. If you’re looking for a more touristy place, then check out Sentosa Island and resort. Visit Chinatown Singapore to see an area with some Chinese charm , great restaurants and some great Museums. Orchard Road and the CBD can be visited by those interested in shopping and malls, whilst Little India offers up great festival experiences throughout the year (and a more low-key gathering every Sunday evening).
