In the Malay language, Kuala Lumpur translates to “muddy river confluence”. However, the city itself certainly isn’t muddy. With a bustling population of over 6.5 million, this place has something to offer nearly everyone. Some of the largest mega-malls in the world and historic and cultural attractions mean that this is one city you don’t want to miss.

Main attractions in Kuala Lumpur

One of Kuala Lumpur’s most famous attractions, the Batu caves were discovered in 1878 by William Hornaday. Since then, Hindu priests have used them as temples. Today, visitors can see fascinating statues of Hindu Gods. To see something a little more modern, make sure to stop by the Petronas Towers and see some of Kuala Lumpur’s unique modern architecture. If you’re looking to do some shopping, head over to Mid Valley mega-mall near Bangsar, one of the largest in the city. Another option competing for size is pavilion kuala lumpur, which houses over 450 stores. For a more interesting take on shopping, you can also visit the aptly named Sunway Pyramid shopping mall; aptly named because part of it is shaped like a pyramid. This is easily accessible by many of the city’s RapidKL buses.

You can also head over to Titiwangsa and visit the Titiwangsa Lake Gardens for a unique view of how some of the locals spend their spare time.
